Hi, I’m Kristian Michael Gonzalez, aka Mettle Detector.

Born (’86) and raised in Miami, I grew up stealing my older brother’s tapes and CDs and claiming them as my own. For a long time, making music was my best-kept secret.

Ideas saved to my phone. Songs built in spare rooms and closets… basically wherever I could make noise without attracting attention. Eventually I realized I wasn’t just experimenting with sounds — I was telling a story.

Now, at 40 years old, with a wife and a 6-year-old son, I decided it was finally time to let the world hear what goes on between my ears. How it’s perceived is a whole other story. I’m just stoked that my son thinks it’s cool.

Recorded in my bedroom and built more on instinct than rules, Mettle Detector is less of a debut and more of an admission. It was always there… I just finally found the courage to share it with you.
